Hi there. I hope your week is off to a good start. This week’s post is about the pants in this look. I am not sure what fabric they are made of. What I am sure of however, is that they are pseudo denim and they are unique. I love that about them. When I saw them for the first time and inspected them (they are thrift, in fact this whole outfit is thrift), I knew they would come home with me.
They have a few unique details. The fabric looks like denim but it is not. It is actually quite soft to the touch. On the inside, there is a lining of soft fleece designed to keep the wearer warm, I suppose. Oh and the fleece has a plaid pattern. The waistband is elastic and it has adjustable drawstrings giving the trousers a sweatpants feel. These pants would be easy to incorporate into an athleisure look (here’s how to create your own look) without them being actual workout wear, thanks to their sweatpants look.
When I got them, I didn’t know exactly how I would make them work with my style. Their unique aspects piqued my interest and I decided I’d keep them folded up until I figured out what to put them with.
This style story starts out with me having to go for a hospital visit. I strongly dislike hospitals! I have worked as a registered nurse in the past and I spent a good amount of time in hospitals. This time however, I was going to one as a patient and being on the other side of the hospital bed does not sit very well with me. On the morning of that visit, I decided I needed some positive vibes around me, so I figured I would get that from my outfit. I knew that I wanted a splash of color and that I did not want to go for my usual denim. I remembered my folded trousers in the closet and I knew they would be perfect. They are comfortable, look like denim and a casual t-shirt would work. Win-win-win!
The t-shirt brought the color in tangerine orange. I tucked it in and wore my new closet staple jacket (it goes with everything!) on top. In the outfit to hospital, I wore a pair of brown kitten heels, for this blog post however, I decided to jazz the look up a little using my black Mary-Jane heels. One thing that I am not fond of in these trousers is their length. They are a little short on me so a pair of heels works best to help disguise the length (fashion tip).
To accessorize, I put on a pair of handmade beaded earrings, brown and orange in color, a beaded statement ring, my blue bag and a matte lip completed the look. The outfit served its purpose. I felt good in it and that was the positive jolt I was looking for as I headed out the door to a place that I didn’t necessarily look forward to going.
I use my style as a source of positivity. Where do you get your dose of positivity from? Let me know…
I wish you a positive week ahead. Thank you so much for reading.
