Hi there. I hope you had a nice weekend and your week has started out good. My weekend this time round involved a little family get together with my crazy cousins, aunts and uncle. We went through some old photo albums that got us reminiscing about the old days. Trust me when I say that we had a long good laugh talking about those times and all the crazy things that happened to us as we grew up. It felt awesome for me, it felt like we were back in those days when life seemed so simple. I enjoyed the laughter the most and the fact that Neil was there with me, was the icing on the cake. It has been a minute since I laughed that hard and had a genuinely relaxed and fun time.
Anyway, I digress, going back down memory lane made me think about doing the same thing with my style. I started thinking about some of the outfits I would put together a few years back and I still have the pieces in my closet. I thought it would be fun to revive one of my go to outfits and feature it here. I loved, and still love, the earthy color combination in this ensemble. I think I have some type of thing for earthy color combinations, case in point here, here and here. The olive green of this dress top with all its subtle details like the big brown buttons, the military inspired pleating across the front and the elbow length sleeves with the military inspired button details give this top a tough but approachable feel.
After getting this top, I immediately knew what would go perfectly with it but it had to come from my mum’s closet. Yup, I went hunting in there. I knew she had these brown tights and I also knew she was not very big on wearing tights so it would not be a hard fight to get her to part with them and I was right. Yay! It didn’t hurt that she liked the ensemble too. So the tights jumped from her closet and into mine and they certainly rhymed with the brown buttons of the top. Oh, they are also super comfy!
When it comes to the doll shoes, I have not had them for as long as I have had the top and tights but since I wanted to keep the look somewhat monochrome, they fit perfectly into this throwback story. I love the soft velvet detail on them and the ruffled lace puff at the top with the bead detail that shines when the sun hits it. I never seem to be able to get a good shot of that detail on these shoes though. They are a perfect addition to this outfit story.
For the accessories, I put the ensemble with my brown woven clutch bag with beading on it and handmade beaded earrings and bracelets that went with the color scheme but still added a hint of red to the outfit. A nude lip polished off the look. I had a lot of fun going down memory lane this weekend with my fabulous, did I mention cray cray, family and my style.
I hope you enjoyed this post.
